The Tenna Era of benevolent rule, known from the early Edo period, is attributed to the achievements of Shogun Tsunayoshi, who governed the Tatebayashi domain.
By eliminating the brutal atmosphere of the Warring States period and fostering the Genroku culture, this era produced unparalleled cultural figures such as Chikamatsu Monzaemon, Ihara Saikaku, and Matsuo Basho.
Our company (Mitasan Shodo) was founded in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture in 1928 and is celebrating its 90th anniversary.
The commemorative original fountain pen "Genroku Shogun" was created by the artisans of Platinum Pen, who produce fountain pens at their nearby Isesaki factory.
A material rarely used for wooden fountain pen barrels, lacewood, was specially processed, resulting in a masterpiece where the individuality of each wood grain stands out.
【Lacewood】
Lacewood is characterized by its exceptionally beautiful and unique grain.
While the grain patterns vary slightly, this wood features a slightly silvery, scale-like pattern that appears continuously on all surfaces, and its distinctive grain is sometimes described as beefwood or sharkwood.
The name "lacewood" is said to originate from the lace-like pattern that appears on the plain-sawn surface, which is truly elegant and possesses a geometric beauty. Due to its beauty, it is widely used for furniture, musical instruments, and more.
It boasts excellent durability and is so hard and robust that it is used as a material for boomerangs in its country of origin.
This fountain pen features lacewood with a urethane coating and a gloss finish. Please enjoy the beautiful grain with the luster and smoothness of the gloss finish.
