The Tenwa era, known as the good governance of the early Edo period, is known as the achievement of the fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi, who ruled the Tatebayashi domain.
By eliminating the brutal atmosphere of the Warring States period and fostering Genroku culture, this period gave birth to rare intellectuals such as Chikamatsu Monzaemon, Ihara Saikaku, and Matsuo Basho.
Our company (Mita Sanshodo) was founded in 1928 in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture, and is celebrating its 90th anniversary.
The original commemorative fountain pen, "Genroku Shogun," was created by the artisans at Platinum Pen, which produces fountain pens at its nearby Isesaki factory.
Lacewood, a rare material for wooden fountain pens, is specially processed to create a masterpiece that highlights the unique grain of each pen.
[Lacewood]
The characteristic of lacewood is that it has a very beautiful and unique grain.
Although the shape of the grain varies slightly, this tree is characterized by a slightly silvery scale pattern that appears continuously on all surfaces, and its unique grain is sometimes described as beefwood or sharkwood.
The name "lacewood" is said to come from the lace-like pattern that appears on the grain, which is truly elegant and has a beautiful geometric pattern. Because of this beauty, it is widely used for furniture, musical instruments, and more.
It is extremely durable and is so hard and sturdy that it is used to make boomerangs in its country of origin.
This fountain pen is made of lacewood with a glossy urethane finish. Enjoy the beautiful grain with the glossy and smooth finish.
The Genroku Shogun (Lacewood) is made with high quality lacewood with a characteristic mottled pattern. Each pen is made to accentuate the unique grain of the wood used, and no two are the same. Treated with a polyurethane finish and buffed to a pristine gloss, this pen elevates any workspace, and the finely crafted Medium nib puts down a robust line with little pressure. Produced in a limited run of 100, each pen is engraved with its unique production number.
