The Tenna Era of benevolent rule, known for its good governance in the early Edo period, is recognized as an achievement of the fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi, who governed the Tatebayashi domain.

By eliminating the brutal atmosphere of the Warring States period and fostering Genroku culture, this era gave birth to preeminent cultural figures such as Chikamatsu Monzaemon, Ihara Saikaku, and Matsuo Basho.

Our company (Mita Sanshodo) was founded in Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture in 1928, and is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

The "Genroku Shogun" commemorative original fountain pen was created by the artisans of Platinum Pen, who produce fountain pens at their nearby Isesaki factory.

Walnut, a rare material for wooden-barreled fountain pens, was specially processed, and each pen was finished into a masterpiece that highlights the unique grain of the wood.

【Walnut】

Walnut is the Japanese word for "kurumi" (walnut). Walnut is a high-grade wood, considered one of the world's three most famous woods alongside teak and mahogany. It is impact-resistant, heavy, less prone to warping, easy to work with, and, most importantly, beautiful to look at, making it widely used in high-end furniture and crafts.

It also contains an appropriate amount of oil, so the more it is handled and used, the more its aged appearance can be enjoyed.

Walnut is a high-grade wood that was once said to symbolize wealth in the West. It still enjoys strong popularity today and is used in places like the American presidential rostrum and Milan Cathedral. This fountain pen uses walnut wood with a urethane coating for a matte finish. It will gain luster with use, making it a cherished item for a long time.
